"I feel that each fresh pallet releases fuel for yet another creative expression and a passion fulfilled"
                                                                                                                             Gesuina Eyford

After 30 years of raising a family and running a business, I was looking forward to releasing my creative self. As a teenager, I immigrated with my parents from Italy and arrived in the Hamilton area in 1958. I had a passion and a talent for art in those young years, however, what was evident had to be put on hold for life's necessities. Finally, in the position to immerse myself, I turned to the Dundas Valley School of Art. For the next 8 years I studied theory, methods and techniques delivered by a group of professional instructors. Added to this were several sessions at the Jensen School of Art in Florida, and, several periods of private instruction given by local professional artists.

Experimenting with different mediums, I have in the past decade developed my own style and technique that I feel best expresses myself whether painting plein air or in the studio. I work with a clean, clear pallet using colours that are vibrant, not murky. The rich buttery feel of oils gives depth and brilliance and reflects light; with the slow drying quality giving the freedom to express the emotion of my subject. The ability to manipulate oils best translates my interpretation of local and European landscapes, still life and flora to canvas.

Gesuina lives in West Flamborough. She is a member of the Women's Art Association, Carnegie Gallery, Fine Art Society of Milton, and a volunteer of the Canadian Ballet Youth Ensemble.
